An East London based company are looking for a full-time experienced Pattern Cutter to work within the design and technical team. The company sells to a wide range of online retailers and boutiques specialising solely in womenswear design. The daily responsibilities of the role will be pattern cutting from drawings and pictures, creating technical specifications for production, and communicating directly with the design team to achieve desired styles and fits. The role of the pattern cutter is crucial in the design process ensuring that we deliver all patterns and fits on time. This role is in a fast-paced environment with communication being key. The role is an exciting opportunity to join a growing company.

The job would involve:

Design/Patterns:

– Communicating with the Design team and adapting designs to suit production methods
– Creating Workbooks for styles
– Pattern cutting from drawings and pictures
– Making sure garments can be produced within budget

Sealing:

– Creating specs for production
– Checking and measuring production samples against specs
– Being involved in fit process from start to finish, overseeing fittings, Grades, PP samples and Gold seals
– Attend fit sessions with customers
– Update Workbooks after Fit Sessions with Clear instructions and pictures if needed to make amendments
– Work closely with Suppliers
– Undertaking quality evaluations of materials and checking the quality of the final product
– Responding to product queries, including complaints, from wholesalers and customers

Profile of Skills / Experience:

– Experience with Vetigraph system, grading manually and knowledge of pattern cutting, cad systems and grading
– You must understand manufacturing, textiles and garment construction – A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role
– Have the ability to work alone as well as in a team
– Be able to work under tight deadlines and cope with pressure
– Have a keen interest in fashion and textiles
– Demonstrate an understanding of pattern cutting, construction and manufacturing techniques
– Technical knowledge gained preferably within fast paced commercial or supplier environment
– Flexible approach to be able to adjust to the constantly changing needs of the business.
– Exceptional eye for technical detail to consistently ensure the correct documentation is used and followed
– Applied technical knowledge of fabrics and threads
– Highly organised with good prioritisation skills
– Confident and clear communication skills; both verbal and written to work productively alongside other Product teams and external suppliers

Job Type: Full-time, Monday to Friday, able to commute every day to E1 2LR
